Buyer will receive the amount indicated in the picture. We offer two version of the red Gracilaria and this is the Hawaiian version of it. It's thinner and less red compared to our Florida version. However, it's an excellent source of food for Tangs.

The Sympodium is a rare coral that looks like a cross between a Clove Polyp and a Xenia. Its mat and body is very similar to a Xenia while its hands resemble a Clove Polyp. It’s likely closer to the Xenia species and the care requirements are similar.

Chaetomorpha Macroalgae

Using Chaetomorpha in your tank is a great way to reduce phosphates and nitrates as well as other nutrients. If you’ve ever been fishing and severely tangled up your line, this is how Cheato grows. This macrolgae is great for beginners because it doesn’t disintegrate in the tank due to low nutrients or low lighting. Furthermore, it’s extremely hardy and will thrive in many various conditions. Out of the thousands of batches we have sent we’ve only gotten less than 10 DOAs.

We’ve searched around for a very long time finding the fastest growing strain. We finally selected a strain that we believe is one of the most fastest and effective strains available. This macrolgae can be placed into main tank as well if one doesn’t mind a big green ball in the display. When the Chaeto is getting too large for its area simply pull off the excess amount. If pruning is not desired then it’s important to rotate the bottom of the Chaeto ball to the top to get some light. Chaeto doesn’t have the ability to attach to rocks like most other macro algae so it’s very easy to harvest and completely remove.

Acclimation: Match temperature by dropping the bag in the tank for a few minutes and release into the water. Discard the water that was in the bag.

Lighting recommendations:

-5,500k-10k bulb
-1.5 watts or more per gallon

The cheapest option is to buy a spiral compact fluorescent lamp with an enclosed
reflector and shield attached to a light bulb clamp.

We've gotten a few emails lately on how to go about tumbling Chaeto. Although it's completely unnecessary to do so, it's a good way to make your Cheato more efficient by giving it a larger area for photosynthesis. We’ve found using air pumps to be the most efficient and effective. Simply attach an airline to an anchor, such as a piece of rubble rock, and place it at the bottom of the refugium. Dial the amount of air depending on the size of the Cheato and how fast you want it to turn. The extra air and the greater area of light exposure dramatically increase the rate of nutrient reduction using this method. Check out the video below to see a demonstration.

Live Frag Tiles are created from Tonga Branch or Fiji Branch live rock. This allows a very natural surface for corals to mount and grow over. Live Frag tiles are shipped in salt water to ensure bacteria life. Simply toss them into your sump or refugium for extra filtration when not in use.

Red Grape Macro Algae Frag 3-5 Inch Frag

This beautiful red macroalgae resembles Caulerpa racemosa (grape Caulerpa) but they are actually not related at all. The proper name for this red macro is Botryocladia. This macroalgae can be safely place them in the main aquarium without worry about it overtaking the tank. This macroalgae grows in a root like fashion with a few attaching points on the rock and many offshoots from the main branches. The growth rate can be considered slow to moderate.

Caution should be taking when placed in a tank with herbivores. A large softball sized bush can be devoured in a matter of days by Tangs as they do enjoy this macro. There are a few options to attach this macro. It may be wedged between rocks to give it a chance to attach or it may be placed in the substrate. We had a small colony sucked in by a powerhead and it began appearing on rocks and pump without any help.

Of all the macroalgae we have seen, this is one of the most unique we’ve come
across. There is no blue chlorophyll, but there is a unique pigment on this
macroalgae that bounces back blue light. The macroalgae gives off a blue shimmering
effect when the pumps are on. Even under a 10k bulb this macro appears blue.
This is a very hardy macroalgae that grows in a huge range of lighting and flow.
We’ve kept a clipping in every single one of our holding tanks which range from
weak spiral fluorescent lights to 400 watts of metal halide and they’ve all
 done great.

Due to its rarity and demand we can only offer clippings at this point. However,
this macroalgae does grow at a decent rate and you should start seeing plating
in a month or so. Here is a recent picture of our mother colony:

The Green Star Polyp is a hardy and fast growing
live coral. This coral grows in a matt much like Zoanthids. GSPs come in many
different shapes and colors despite falling under one name. Some have very light
green polyps while some are very dark green. There are varieties out there are
even metallic green. Their polyp length can also vary widely from quarter of
an inch to over an inch.

Many reefers glue this coral to the walls of
their tanks to add as a nice back drop and to control overgrowth of this coral
on live rock. This coral can adapt to a wide range of lighting but should be
initially placed in a low light with moderate flow. Their matt should be checked

Emerald Crabs are reef safe scavengers that will feed on meaty foods as well as certain macroalgae. It’s often used to control green bubble algae. They may pose a threat to corals if the tank is underfed and the crab is starving. However, it’s very unlikely to happen unless the aquarium is void of any leftover food.

The Caulastrea is
hardy LPS coral which is commonly named the candy cane or trumpet coral. This
is due to their tasty appearance and bell-like heads. This coral enjoys low to
moderate flow. It is not recommended to place them in a high flow area. Once adjusted
to the aquarium, their heads should have a puffy appearance and show no skeleton.
Low or moderate lighting is sufficient for this coral. Power compacts will work
just fine, but they can also slowly adjust to metal halides.
This coral may
be target fed during the dark period with mysis shrimp or other meaty foods.
They can also be trained to feed during the day if trained to do so by constantly
placing food near them over the span of a few weeks.
This coral may
be placed in the sand or wedged between rocks. Reef safe epoxy may also be used
if desired. Candy Cane corals come in various colors including green, baby blue,
and maroon with green centers. Nonetheless, they require the same care. Feeding
is not required but can speed up their growth. However, it is important to maintain
Calcium and Alkalinity at sufficient levels.

Saragassum Macroalgae 3" Stalk

This is one of the most common and largest macroalgae in the world but often not used in reef aquariums. Despite the brown color, Sargassum is definitely display worthy with its ability to grow the full length of a reef aquarium. This macroalgae is able to grow long lengths due to balloon like bubbles on the stalks to keep it from falling over.

This macroalgae can accept a wide range of tank conditions. However, in our experience it takes a little patience to wait for it to establish itself in the tank. Every time we have introduced new Sargassum to the tank there was some breakage until new growth becomes to kick in. Do not get discouraged when it doesn’t blossom right away like other macros. Our Sargassum is best attached to live rock by initially wedging it in a crevice. Keep in mind there are some Sargassum that are free floading. This macroalgae will accept a wide range of lighting configurations.

Halimeda macroalgae, sometimes called the cactus algae, is a great macroalgae for reefers who want to add some diversity into their tank along with their live corals or fishes. Fishes generally don’t enjoy eating Halimeda so it’s safe amongst even the most aggressive fishes. Halimeda is aragonite based and grows moderately in a wide range of lighting. It’s a noninvasive macroalgae and like most macros can be easily harvested by trimming anywhere on the algae.

This macroalgae is self attaching. When we harvest and ship to you, we harvest from the very bottom so the holdfast roots are still intact. This is not necessary but allows for faster attachment.

Note: We have very limited stock on this macro. Buyers will receive a small 2 inch portion.

This is truly an amazing and extremely rare macroalgae. In our years of collecting macroalgae this is the first time we’ve come across something this bizarre and amazing. This macroalgae has a metallic pigment that glows deep blue and bright neon green. It grows in thick layers about a quarter inch, which is extremely thick for macroalgae.

Check out this video of the macroalgae color shift as the camera moves:

Measurement: 1.5 inch.

General Information: These are temperate creatures and should be kept at low temperatures. We are keeping these in tanks that peak at about 75 degrees Fahrenheit with a successful term of 7 months and going. They seem to reproduce by spitting out babies through their mouth instead of splitting themselves found commonly in anemones found in the hobby. They can be fed a variety of meaty food such as Mysis. If you can hand catch pods in your tank that also works great and is what we usually do. Check out the feeding video below if you are curious or really bored.

Buyer will receive exact coral in the picture.

Sun corals (Tubastrea): Sun corals generally come in 3 colors. Black being
the rarest then followed by yellow, pink then orange. It’s important to
feed these corals as they don’t use any photosynthesis. Meaty foods such
as krill and brine shrimp are a good choice. Their polyp extension varies from
coral to coral but generally come out at night. We have found that after a few
weeks of acclimation in their new home they will also come out during the day.

Type: Large Polyp Stony

Lighting Requirements: Sun Corals depend 100% on feeding.

 Aggressiveness: Peaceful

Green Branching Gracilaria Macroalgae

This macroalgae is very similar to red Gracilaria. It grows in a root/branchlike pattern. May be safely kept in the main tank as it is a slow grower and does not attach to substrate at many points. One of the problems with Caulerpa is that it attaches itself at many points. This macro will attach at one point and break off from there.

This is food for many herbivores so be careful. This macroalgae is very tolerant of various lighting set ups and generally very hardy.

You will receive a bush that is about 4 inches in diameter.

Harlequin Shrimp

The Harlequin Shrimp is perhaps one of the most beautiful and unique shrimps in our hobby. However, it's a very picky eater and will only eat live Starfish. The Chocolate Star fish is a good choice because it is one of the few reef safe Starfishes. A few Starfishes should be raised when keeping Harlequin shrimps because they need time to grow back their legs. To feed the shrimp, simply remove one leg of the Starfish and it will grow back in time.

A very stable reef aquarium is required much like other invertebrates in our hobby. Temperature, pH, and salinity should be stable at all times. Nitrates should be kept at a minimum. A little bit of work is required to keep Harlequin Shrimps but it’s definitely worth the effort.
