      <title>Chaetomorpha Macro Algae</title>
      <link>http://www.lareefs.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;products_id=2&amp;language=en</link>
      <comments>http://www.lareefs.com/index.php?main_page=product_reviews&amp;products_id=2</comments>
<description>Chaetomorpha, the king of all macroalgae! Chaeto is fast and great way to reduce phosphates and nitrates as well as other nutrients. It’s sometimes referred to as spaghetti or billow pad macro algae due to the way it grows. If you’ve ever been fishing and severely tangled up your line this is how it grows. This macro is great for beginners because it doesn’t ever break apart and disintegrate in your tank due to low nutrients or low lighting. Furthermore, it’s extremely hardy and will thrive in many various conditions. The growth rate is not as excessive as some Caulerpas but it significantly helps with micro algae such as the dreaded hair algae.

We’ve searched around for a very long time getting this macroalgae from other hobbyist. We finally selected a strain and we believe it’s one of the most fastest and effective strains available. This macro can be placed into main tank as well. Chaeto doesn’t have the ability to attach to rocks like most other macro algae so it’s very easy to harvest and completely remove.

Lighting recommendations:

-5,500k-10k bulb

-1.5 watts or more per gallon

      <title>Live Sand</title>
      <link>http://www.lareefs.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;products_id=20&amp;language=en</link>
      <comments>http://www.lareefs.com/index.php?main_page=product_reviews&amp;products_id=20</comments>
<description>Live sand is the second source of natural filtration a reef tank uses next to
live rock. Live sand is simply a special medium where certain benefiting bacteria
and creatures can thrive by consuming waste produced by corals or fishes. Once
a live sand bed is established, they can do a good job at converting ammonia to
nitrate. Although having high amounts of nitrates is undesirable, having ammonia
is infinite times worse. Therefore, it&#039;s important to speed up the process of
converting ammonia to nitrite and finally to nitrate.
Worms and other critters may also be generated from the live sand bed such
for fishes and corals. If using the sand bed for this purpose it&#039;s a good idea
to keep the sand in a sump where predators can&#039;t decimate the population. With
that being said, it&#039;s still a good idea to keep one or two inches of sand in
the main tank even if there is sand in the refugium. Sand works well in trapping
detritus in, and without it the bottom of the tank can look unpleasing due to
the build up of detritus. If using the bare bottom method it&#039;s a good idea to
have lots of flow at the bottom of the tank and a method to filter out the detritus
from the tank. This can be done simply with a hand on back filter or an overflow
  to the sump.
Roughly .5 to 1.5 pounds of live sand per gallon of water is sufficient enough
for a reef aquarium. If running a nano reef, it&#039;s best to have as much water
as possible so 3 inch + sand beds are not recommended in smaller tanks. It&#039;s
better to have the stability of having more water.
It&#039;s not necessary to add 100% live sand to a tank because seeding with live
sand with regular sand generally works well. This can be a 50/50% mix or even
25% live sand and 75% sand. It&#039;s a good idea to get live sand from various sources
as long as the source is healthy.
In general, the higher the flow in the tank the higher the grain size should
be. Otherwise, sand storms will occur from small grain sized sand and too much
flow. Sugar sized sand looks very nice but cannot tolerate high amounts of flow.

Our live sand is seeded from a collection from various hobbyists over couple
years. Our sand is sold for the purpose of seeding and there is a maximum of
5 pounds to a single. The live sand will be coming from our systems and therefore,
we can only sell a limited amount per week.

<title>Red Grape Macro Algae Frag 3-5 Inch Frag</title>

      <comments>http://www.lareefs.com/index.php?main_page=product_reviews&amp;products_id=5</comments>
<description>A rarity in the reef hobby. This macroalgae resembles Caulerpa racemosa (grape Caulerpa) but is actually not related at all. The proper name for this red macro is Botryocladia. Reefers can safely place them in the main aquarium. However some herbivores might be tempted to nip at the plant. They tolerate high to low lighting and tolerate low to very high flow. There is a 3 inch strand that somehow attached to the nozzle of a powerhead and it&#039;s still growing despite being violently moved.</description>

      <description>
Buyer will receive exact coral in the picture.

Sun corals (Tubastrea): Sun corals generally come in 3 colors. Black being
the rarest then followed by yellow, pink then orange. It’s important to
feed these corals as they don’t use any photosynthesis. Meaty foods such
as krill and brine shrimp are a good choice. Their polyp extension varies from
coral to coral but generally come out at night. We have found that after a few
weeks of acclimation in their new home they will also come out during the day.

Type: Large Polyp Stony

Lighting Requirements: Sun Corals depend 100% on feeding.

  Aggressiveness: Peaceful

Video: Sun coral generally open up the most at night. They can stretch out a good
inch or inch and half to catch food.

      <description>Measurement: 1.5 inch.

General Information: These are temperate creatures and should be kept at low temperatures. We are keeping these in tanks that peak at about 75 degrees Fahrenheit with a successful term of 7 months and going. They seem to reproduce by spitting out babies through their mouth instead of splitting themselves found commonly in anemones found in the hobby. They can be fed a variety of meaty food such as Mysis. If you can hand catch pods in your tank that also works great and is what we usually do. Check out the feeding video below if you are curious or really bored.
